NQ Trade Journal — 2026-09-02 — Chop Loss / Big-Picture OTE-CE Miss
Timestamp noted: 2026-09-02 10:27 EDT Market: NQ Context: User discretionary journal note after blowing evals in chop
Result
Got crushed today and blew evals from trading inside chop.
Core mistake
The main failure was getting too zoomed in and reactive instead of stepping back to read the big-picture chart. The chop was not the opportunity. The clean read was the larger morning impulse and the later retrace into a meaningful level.
Missed big-picture framework
The simple anchor was:
- Swing low: 7:00am low
- Swing high: 8:15am high
- Key retrace: Consequent Encroachment / midpoint area
- Time price came into CE: around 9:45am
Instead of fighting the chop, the better process was to draw the 7:00am low → 8:15am high range and wait for price to come back into the CE / OTE decision zone.
What should have happened
- Step back from the 1m/100t noise.
- Mark the obvious morning leg: 7:00am low → 8:15am high.
- Identify CE / OTE before taking any entry.
- Treat the 9:45am pullback into CE as the real decision point.
- Only execute after live 1m / 100t confirmation.
Rule going forward
When the market feels choppy or starts taking multiple bad trades, stop immediately and zoom out.
Before another entry, draw the cleanest visible impulse leg and ask:
- What is the big-picture range?
- Where is CE / OTE?
- Am I trading at a real location or inside the middle?
- Do I have 1m / 100t confirmation, or am I reacting to noise?
Self-grade
D
The setup was readable, but the execution process failed. The loss came from impatience, tunnel vision, and trading chop before waiting for a meaningful location.

Tomorrow focus
No trading inside chop. Big picture first. Draw the range. Wait for CE / OTE. Execute only after confirmation.
